SLOFEC floor scanner inside a storage tank

SLOFEC

Tank floors

A tank floor corrodes from both sides. From above, where aggressive media attacks the plate, and from below, where moisture under the floor does its slower work. Coatings often cover the plates in various thicknesses and heating coils that run low across the floor can make access more challenging.

We scan tank floors with the SLOFEC technique, which reads corrosion on both sides of the plate through the coating and keeps them separate for the report. The scanner covers the floor lane by lane, and where coils block the way we drive it under them by remote control.

At the critical zone at the shell we switch to the Verified Edge Scanner, our own compact SLOFEC unit for the dead zone a floor scanner cannot reach. The scan ends at the shell, not short of it.
